5 Disc Shuffle, Or What I Played At Work Today.

I grabbed all oldies today, and it was good. Here are some choice selections from today's menu...

Nigo - March Of The General
Ape Sounds
2000Big orchestral samples + fat breakbeats + killer scratching + Planet Of The Apes samples = most excellent. "Damn you all to hell!!!"
David Holmes - Rip Rip
Out Of Sight
1998I've been on a Holmes kick, so this got aired today. What a great funky groove, and some choice Don Cheadle samples to boot.
Iggy Pop - Sister Midnight
A Million In Prizes
2005Fierce and funky. What a great bass line. David Bowie and Iggy were a real force to be reckoned with.

Boards Of Canada - Chromakey Dreamcoat
The Campfire Headphase
2005BOC are always good. Moody, melodic, and strangely evocative of the past.
Gorillaz Vs. Spacemonkeyz - Strarshine (Dub 09)
Laika Come Home
2002Damon's melancholic melodies work perfectly in the dub realm. Lovely.

5 Disc Shuffle Or What I Played At Work Today

It's a simple concept today - these 5 discs soundtracked my work day and it was rockin'.

Ride - Like A Daydream - The Byrds with serious balls.

Booker T. & The M.G.s - Time Is Tight - smooth like butter.

Simian - The Way I Live - Beatles-y backing vocals + woozy carnival music = good.

The Skatalites - James Bond Theme - the grandaddies of ska rock the spy theme.

Richard X - Finest Dreams (featuring Kelis) - Human League + SOS Band + Kelis = pure gold.
