Emotions

Aussie Tim Shiel is Faux Pas. The Melbourne native is the creator of excellent, dreamy electro pop. I have blogged a few of his tunes this year - I really like his style and sound. He has compiled a most delicious mixtape for your audio pleasure. It includes some current stuff and some vintage classics from the '80s - Zoolook! Kraftwerk! - so you know it is all good. The inspiration for the mix stems from his current obsession with those sweet '80s remixes by Shep Pettibone and Arthur Baker and Razormaid. He even included a song I posted a couple of weeks ago - Electronic's Getting Away With It. Enjoy!

Glitches 'n' Bugs : A Mix

Just got clued on to an online mixtape site that works much like the old, beloved Muxtape. It is called 8tracks, and it is pretty easy to use. Browse the network's song library or upload a track. I only uploaded 1 of the 8 tracks in my mix - 7 were already on the network. I am, of course, SIART. Today's inaugural mix is Glitches 'n' Bugs, a tasty selection of tracks by Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Röyksopp, The Shortwave Set, Amadou & Mariam, Fever Ray, N.A.S.A., the Super Furries and Q-Tip. I warn you - the Super Furry Animals song The Very Best Of Neil Diamond is ENORMOUSLY good. Enjoy!

Mute Records has done us Americans a favor. They are releasing the Hercules And Love Affair album in the US. It has been out on DFA since March in Europe, but we will have to wait until June 24th to get it here. It is well worth the wait. The first single will be Blind and is out May 27th. No word on the remixes, but it will probably have some of the same ones as the Euro versions - Frankie Knuckles, Serge Santiago and the band's own mix among them.

The latest web/music/playlistism thingie buzzing around the internets is to make a Muxtape ("a simple way to create and share mp3 mixtapes"). It's ultra basic but works very nicely for streaming audio. Create an account, upload some songs and tell your friends to listen to your hot new mix. Listen to SIART's Muxtape, which features Hercules And Love Affair, Herb Alpert, The Skids and ZZ Top, some Italo, some electro and a few more choice morsels.
